Real World Algebra
What people are saying about Real World Algebra... "If you've ever been asked by a math student the inevitable question, 'When will we ever use this?'-This book is for you." Arlie Willems, Associate Professor of Education, Mount Mercy College "This book transcends the typical math curriculum by using the real world as its stage. Students realize that mathematics is more than basic facts and memorized procedures. They see real world connections while engaging in meaningful and rigorous work." Cheryl Werner, Teacher of Talented and Gifted
DESCRIPTION
Algebra is often taught in an abstract manner with little or no emphasis on what algebra is or how it can be used to solve real problems. Just as English can be translated into other languages, word problems can be "translated" into the math language of algebra and easily solved. Real World Algebra explains this process in an easy to understand format using cartoons and drawings. This makes self-learning easy for both the student and any teacher who never did quite understand algebra. Solutions included. Teachers may reproduce pages for use with their students. Each chapter's questions are broken down into three levels: Level 1 (basic) Level 2 (challenging) Einstein Level (very challenging) Includes chapters on: Language of Algebra Geometry and Algebra Proportions and Albegra Physics Levers Pythagorean Theorem Percents and Algebra Simultaneous Equations Algebra and Money Grades 4-9 310 pages 8.5" x 11"
